David Melendez, MD

By advising and educating women, Dr. Melendez strives to empower his patients to become actively involved in their own healthcare. His patients appreciate his love and concern for people, and they constantly recognize him as being a compassionate, competent caregiver who always listens and answers questions.

Dr Melendez speaks fluent Spanish and was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he went to Medical School. During his OB/Gyn training he joined the US Air Force where he served for eight years. He has lived in New York, California and Florida. In 1995 he was recruited to Oklahoma and developed a private practice while being actively involved in training, residents, medical students, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

In his search to practice the best quality medicine, in 1995 he joined The Center for Women’s health , a six physician practice recognized for its excellent standard of quality care. He has served as president of the Oklahoma City OB/GYN society, chair of surgery, OB/Gyn section and quality control at Mercy Hospital OKC. Seeking to provide a better surgical experience he is a highly skilled & experienced robotic surgeon which has provided a new option for minimally invasive surgery with quicker recovery and decreased complications.

Family is always important and has a wonderful wife, Vivianna that volunteers her time in many ways and is an avid painter, photographer and tennis player. He has two children, Chanel who is currently in medical school at OU and Armando who is planning to go to law school.

Dr. Melendez enjoys time with his family, traveling, sports, especially the OKC Thunder, and football, He has a passion for sport cars, electronic gadgets and fine pens and journals. His interests also include, nutrition, hormone management and maintaining optimal health as we age.

Because Dr Melendez enjoys people and family so much, he is devoted to continually providing personalized care. His practice is driven by respect for the individual, no matter what the situation may be.
